Baggs M1 active pickup with volume control and endpin jack.
Notes: For over thirty years, James Goodall has built some of the finest acoustic guitars available anywhere. Starting in the early '70's in his native Southern California, Goodall honed his craft as part of a group of young builders who became mainstays of modern lutherie: Taylor, Deering, Stelling, and Breedlove among them. Now based in Ft. Bragg, CA, Goodall maintians his uncompromising standards of craft with a highly systematic approach to materials and design. Like a fine archtop builder, Goodall hand graduates the thickness of his soundboards to optimize the balance of fundamentals and harmonics. The result are instruments of surpassing acoustic response, with an excellent balance of sensitivity and headroom.
This guitar is an example of his very popular Traditional Dreadnought series, based on the legendary prewar Martin D-28 herringbone, with a solid bookmatched quartersawn Adirondack spruce soundboard, and partially scalloped bracing for enhanced bass response. Neck has a comfortable light "D" profile, and the body produces a remarkably spacious, open voice with exceptional sustain and resonance. Trim accents include herringbone binding, and grained ivoiroid keys on genuine Waverly 16x1 open back tuners. This specimen is in immaculate condition, free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, with smooth low action over freshly dressed original fretwork. A Baggs M1 active soundhole pickup with volume control and endpin jack is included. A pure delight to play, pure joy to behold.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings.
