Materials: Solid bookmatched X-braced spruce top; highly figured fiddleback flame maple back, sides and neck; solid ebony fingerboard with pearl slashed-block inlays; seven ply top binding; five ply headstock binding; triple bound back, fingerboard and f-holes; split-diamond inlay on back of headstock.

Hardware: Inlaid adjustable compensated rosewood bridge; contoured ebony tailpiece; quintuple bound ebony art deco pickguard; gold Schaller sealed back tuners with Imperial keys; gold plated floating Johnny Smith style adjustable humbucking pickup with volume control mounted to pickguard.

Notes: Jimmy D'Aquisto was the last and most celebrated apprentice to the legendary John D'Angelico. In an abbreviated career of just three decades, D'Aquisto created a peerless body of work, instruments that are now the most costly and sought after archtops ever made.

The New Yorker is a faithful recreation of D'Aquisto's most celebrated model, originals of which can fetch over $50K on the vintage market today. Today's New Yorker retains Jimmy's signature S-shaped soundholes, Chippendale headstock, and contoured ebony tailpiece and finger rest. In addition, the New Yorker utilizes 21st century technology to produce an instrument of exacting fit, finish and performance. The medium jumbo frets are tall and smoothly crowned for easy fingering, and the double acting truss rod allows for feeler gauge adjustment for effortless low string action and accurate neck relief. Modern humbucking electronics are grounded to the strings for maximum noise suppression, and laser cut inlay provides a precision fit previous generations could only imagine. The solid spruce top is X- braced for warmth and sustain, the back and sides crafted of handsomely figured flame maple, and the neck profile is finely balanced for ease of play.

This example is built of the most extravagantly figured maple we have ever seen on this model, or just about anywhere else for that matter. With demand outstripping supply, these guitars are few and far between on the vintage market. This guitar is in virtually unplayed condition, 100% original with original hardshell case. An outstanding value in a truly gorgeous jazz classic.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge flatwound nickel strings (.012-.054). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 1/16" to 3/32" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
