Notes: The Pacific Northwest has long been known as a source for the finest tonewoods, and some of the world's most celebrated builders. Having produced top-notch acoustic instruments for over 20 years, Steve Andersen was first famed for his mandolins and flattops. Over the last decade, Steve has focused his international reputation on his extensive line of world-class archtop guitars. Andersen players include recording star Bill Frisell, Dan Faehnle, former stringman with Diana Krall, and many other top players.
Andersen's Streamline model is all about the music. With its elegant uncluttered design, the Streamline puts the focus on tone, playability, and incomparable value. Back, sides and neck are tiger maple of exceptionally pronounced figure; with Andersen's ultra-meticulous fit and finish, the result is an instrument of surpassing acoustical quality, great looks, and a price within reach of the working player.
Only one or two Streamlines are hand built by Steve every year, and this handsome example is hand crafted with an extravagantly figured 16" X-braced, tap-tuned Englemann spruce soundboard, Adirondack spruce tone bars, solid ebony fingerboard and hardware, Armstrong PAF floating humbucker, and a burnished nickel tailpiece. This best-buy model is rarely seen on the vintage market, and this recent example is in virtually unplayed condition, with smooth low action, comfy gentle D neck profile, and exceptionally light weight: a phenomenal 5 lb. 7 oz. Clear, musical voice with excellent balance and projection: simply a delight to play. New cost is $5200 with a substantial wait. One only: call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe arched black plush lined hardshell case.
