Notes: Bill Moll's instruments have achieved a widespread following, having been championed by a number of top performers, including guitar virtuosos John and Bucky Pizzarelli, among others. The tap tuned soundboards are supported with extremely narrow and deeply scalloped braces of very low mass, designed to minimize interference with the vibration of the soundboard. The truss rod in the neck is reinforced with bars of nickel plated, cold rolled steel, both to strengthen the neck, and to resist the dissipation of tone and volume away from the soundbox. The result is a instrument of notable projection and clarity, a true acoustic archtop for the 21st century.

This custom guitar is a tribute to the legendary D'Angelico Ne Yorker, the undisputed king of prewar archtops. The instrument is styled in classic art-deco finery, from the gold stairstep tailpiece to the glittering finial atop the peghead. The soundboard produces a notably rich, clear and even voice, and the generous 1 3/4" neck is gently flattened across the back, making it ideal for either finger or pick style playing. A floating Moll/Armstrong humbucker is suspended from the solid ebony fingerboard, and the sleek multi bound pickguard is crafted of leopard shell tortoise: simply one of the most handsome we've seen.

But the wood is the real showstopper here. True quilted maple is some of the scarcest and most precious varieties of the specied, and this guitar is crafted of tonewood simply staggering in its depth and intensity, with 3D rollers of figure cascading in gorgeous symmetry. The acoustic voice is remarkable as well, with exceptional clarity and volume and the action is smooth and low, with a fresh high-precision setup. Finally, the 16" body is a marvel of comfort, making us wonder why the Maestro of Kenmare Street didn't himself offer this body size with the opulent New Yorker trim.

This instrument has been maintained in immaculate 100% original condition, and appears virtually unplayed. As a special plus, the guitar is supplied with its custom fitted, super duty ATA certified flight grade fiberglass case, a $1000 value in and of itself.

Engraved in the streamlined solid pearl peghead inlay are the original owner's initials. But we prefer to interpret them as a gentle reminder: 'Play Beautiful Music'. And with this stunning instrument, you both can make beautiful music together. But only one of you: don't dawdle, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.080). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Moll Custom made Calton style heavy duty contoured black fiberglass flight case.
