Notes: One of the many distinguished alumni of the Larrivee factory, Andrew Nezil cut his chops with legendary Vancouver luthier Michael Dunn, one of the most creative builders alive. A player as well as a builder, Nezil combines a musician's ear with an artists's eye for fine tonewood.

The Nezil AA1 is a classic Venetian cutaway acoustic archtop in the Benedetto style, constructed of intensely figured tiger flame maple, hand carved tap-tuned quartersawn spruce, and all handmade ebony hardware. And in the tradition of fine violin family instruments since before Stradivari, the AA is hand rubbed with a French polish spirit varnish finish, a laborious technique renowned for optimizing response of the tonewood. So time-consuming is this process that few luthiers ever master it, though many feel it can leave the soundboard more open and flexible than traditional spray lacquer finishes.

The hand graduated X braced top is tap-tuned to maximize clarity and projection, and at just 5lb. 4oz. the instrument is astonishingly light in weight and very well balanced, in the lap or the strap. Action is smooth and low over a gentle D neck profile with full width 1 3/4" nut and solid ebony fingerboard.

A special plus is the original DeArmond 1100 Adjustable Rhythm Chief pickup, the most coveted vintage single coil pickup, which now fetch over $1K alone, when they can be found at all. A stereo endpin jack is installed as well, along with thumbwheel volume and tone controls.

The Nezil AA1 is a true acoustic warrior, and an outstanding value in a hand built North American jazz guitar. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Deluxe black arched fitted plush lined hardshell case.
