1951 Gibson ES-350

Serial #: A-6969, white Kalamazoo label

Body size at lower bout: 17", Scale length: 25 1/2" Nut: 1 11/16"

Finish: Original sunburst finish, nitrocellulose lacquer type.

Materials: Highly flamed full-depth L-5C type body with rounded Venetian cutaway; tiger flame maple neck with walnut centerstripe; Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with split-parallelogram mother of pearl inlays; triple bound body with bound neck and headstock; original solid bone nut.

Hardware: Original hardware includes twin P-90 pickups, beveled 5-ply pickguard, gold trapeze tailpiece with raised parallelograms on crossbar; gold Kluson Deluxe tuners with single-ring tulip keys, compensated adjustable rosewood bridge. Gold barrel speed knobs with 3 way selector switch, original master volume control and knob included in case.

Notes: Introduced in 1948, the double pickup ES-350 was produced in small numbers only until 1956. A scarce and highly desirable instrument, the ES-350 was essentially an electric version of the rare L-12P, and was favored by a number of jazz legends, including Barney Kessel and Tal Farlow, as well as various blues and country performers. This guitar has presentation grade flame maple in the top, back, and neck, with a deeply ambered tobacco sunburst finish, masterfully shaded to the perimeter. An indication of its rarity, just 70 examples were made in in its model year..

The guitar is in outstanding condition, with no cracks, pickwear, thumbwear or buckle rash. The finish is all original, with just enough fine checking to confirm its age. A small patch of finish wear near the bass bridge foot and some typical scattered dings are the only significant signs of use on the instrument. To facilitate pickup selection, the original master volume control was replaced with a three way selector switch, with the original master volume pot and knob included in the case. Perfect original electronics, nice neck profile, and great original frets. Great fat tone, sounds and plays fabulously, right out of the case. Lush, flamy and gorgeous, this is by far the finest example of this model we have ever had the pleasure to offer.

Case: Plush hardshell case.
