Notes: Introduced in 1932, the Gibson L-50 model was Gibson's most popular acoustic archtop guitar for almost four decades, remaining in regular production as late as 1971. It has the same scale length and body size as the L-4 and the ES-175 models. Easy to hold and fun to play, the L-50 scale allows for faster soloing, and more accurate chording of stretch voicings. This example is notable, as unlike many L-50s of it's vintage, it is constructed with a solid maple back and sides with tiger flame superimposed over slab cut figure.
The acoustic voice of this guitar is bright and clear, and enhanced with an adjustable Fishman archtop bridge which contains piezo pickup elements built in to the bridge saddle, a hardware and installation package worth several hundred dollars. This system allows for amplification of the acoustic sound of the soundboard itself, and is widely used for acoustic/electric performance and recording. The guitar is in excellent condition, with newly leveled fretwork, a smooth low action, and a few routine finish dings touched up and buffed. Unquestionably the "best buy" in an all-solid, all-carved genuine vintage Gibson archtop.
Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
Case: Original brown tweed fiber case.
