Serial #: 531890

WIdth at lower bout: 16" Nut Width: 1 11/16" Scale: 25.4"

Materials: Solid bookmatched figured tiger maple back and sides; solid bookmatched Sitka spruce top; solid one-piece Honduras mahogany neck; solid ebony fingerboard; rosewood peghead veneer; solid bone nut; inlaid ebony bridge with bone saddle; gold Martin 16X1 tuners; variegated tortoise pickguard, and inlaid ivoroid bridgepins.

Notes: To paraphrase Henry Ford, for almost 160 years you could get a Martin flat top in any body wood you liked, as long as it was rosewood or mahogany. With the introduction of the 60 series in 1985, Martin players finally had glorious figured maple behind the soundboard at last. The MC-68 was Martin's top of the line maple guitar, produced in limnited quantities only through 1995. Premium features of the model include scalloped bracing, bound fingerboard and peghead, and the vertical 45 style peghead logo in high-color abalone.

This example is crafted of extravangantly flamed tiger maple on both back and sides, with a wamly ambered bookmatched quartersawn Sitka spruce top. The guitar is in superb 100% original condition, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and features an active under-saddle pickup system with endpin jack. The voice is bright and punchy, and the cutaway allows unimpeded access to the 18th fret and beyond. Rarely seen in captivity, the MC-68 is an instrument whose versatility is matched only by it's striking appearance.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference.

Case: Original Martin black hardshell case with plush lining.
