Materials: Solid bookmatched Adirondack spruce top; solid bookmatched figured mahogany back, sides, and neck; solid ebony fingerboard; solid ebony bridge with compensated bone saddle; Waverly nickel 16X1 butterbean tuners; swirl tortoise pickguard; inlaid bridgepins; tortoise body binding; hex-key adjustable truss rod.

Notes: Austin based Collings guitars are renowned for their meticulous craftsmanship and impeccable tone. Their D1A model is based on the classic prewar Martin D-18 and fitted with an X-braced soundboard of hand voiced, quartersawn Adirondack (red) spruce, the lightest and strongest guitar topwood, largely unavailable since the Second World War.

Adirondack tops convey maximum dynamic range and headroom, and can be played vigorously without distortion. With a lightweight figured mahogany body, and solid ebony fingerboard and bridge, the guitar is graced with elegant tortoise binding and pickguard.

At barely 4lb 5oz, the guitar is happily light in weight, and exquisitely balanced, with a vintage style thin nitro lacquer finish. The voice is strikingly resonant, with open, powerful bass and a sparkling upper register, ideal for either pick or finger style play. This gleaming example is in showroom condition, withput pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and is equipped with premium prewar style nickel Waverly 16X1 tuners, and an opulent Cedar Creek deluxe hardshell case.

A compelling blend of traditional and contemporary design from one of America's premier builders: one only, call now.

Setup: String action is set to 4/64" to 5/64ths at the 12th fret, and the instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier strings, according to preference.
