Notes: From his workshop in Cognac, France, Maurice Dupont has been one of the pioneering builders of the gypsy guitar revival, and his instruments remain among the most faithful recreations of the original Selmers made today. An elegant example of his work, the MC-50 is a rendition of the original Maccaferri "Grand Bouche" design, the guitar Django himself played in the early years of his career. The neck has the nimble 650mm scale length for lightning leads and stretch voicings, and a generous 1 3/4 nut.

This example contains the original Maurice Dupont label dated June, 2001, in the maker's own hand. Lightweight and resonant, the instrument weighs in at an astounding 1.7kg , (just 3lb. 11oz .) and the voice is notably deep and clear, with outstanding volume and projection. The neck is carved of elegant figured walnut, with a wonderfully comfortable profile, slim in depth and nicely flattened across the back. The instrument has been maintained in superb condition, with all original hardware and finish, free of cracks, pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. The MC-50 is rarely seen on the vintage market, and new examples entail a considerable wait time. With tonewood aged over a decade, this guitar is true gypsy royalty, ready to rule over a campfire or a concert hall.

Setup: This instrument is strung with light gauge silvered steel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe plush hardshell case.
