Notes: Founded in 1887, the Hofner Company became Germany's largest maker of fretted and bowed instruments. Now based in Hagenau, Bavaria, Hofner's strong violin background gave it an edge in producing archtop guitars, which they've built for over half a century, including signature creations like the Attilla Zoller Model.

Built with peerless German craftsmanship, the Hofner Jazzica blends topflight materials with highly innovative design. Like the viols, the top and braces are carved from solid Alpine spruce, and the back and sides are intensely figured maple. The distinctive contoured body tapers over two inches from endblock to heel, creating a resonant acoustic soundbox that is notably comfortable under the arm.

The solid bearclaw Englemann spruce soundboard is braced with a single tone bar on the bass side to maximize acoustic response, and the finger rest is contoured to avoid obstruction to the treble soundhole altogether. At just 5lb 5oz, the guitar is notably lightweight, and comfortable, with a clear, focused acoustic voice. Smooth low action with a fresh high precision setup over a comfortable D profile neck, with solid ebony fingerboard and tall original fretwork.

With its exceptionally figured body of deeply flamed anigre, a decorative African hardwood similar to maple, the instrument has been maintained in gleaming 100% original condition, and appears virtually unplayed. A special bonus is the set of original feedback-reducing ebony soundhole plugs, shown in the closeup below. Unavailable since 2010, the Hofner Jazzica is now a collectible classic, offering Old World craftsmanship, bold design, and top flight materials at an unbeatable price. One only, and a true best buy in a carved top jazz box. Call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel flatwound strings (.012-.052). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original Hofner logo deluxe arched blonde tweed hardshell case.
