Notes: Forget stage fright, unreadable charts, or impossible bandleaders. For the traveling guitarist, no terror is more bone-chilling than having to cross the ultimate threshold: the airline boarding area. Everyone knows a horror story of a beloved instrument splintered, sundered or stolen, and the anxiety and uncertainty around travel can be simply crazy making. Enter the Argonaut.

Weighing in at a scant 4lb 10oz., the fully hollow, all carved thinline Lacey Argonaut is just 15" wide, and under 2 1/2" in depth. Nonetheless, the tap-tuned X-braced top with its cat-eye soundholes produces an acoustic voice that is astoundingly clear and warm, with bass response utterly unexpected in a soundbox this size. Featherlight and perfectly balanced, the Argonaut sits gracefully in the lap, and performs spectacularly through the built in Armstrong humbucking pickup. This example shows exceptional AAA flame maple body and neck, grained ivoroid binding, solid purpleheart hardware and trim, and a perfectly bookmatched handcarved Sitka spruce soundboard. The instrument is in superb condition, without pick, thumb or fingerboard wear, and is equipped with a rare Van Eps style string damper, for crystal clear tone.

Current new price on this model is $15,000, with a substantial build time. A delight equally to hold and behold, the Lacey Argonaut is the perfect tonic for the travails of the traveling troubadour, and it's unlikely that an example at this price will be seen again. One only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original custom leather gig bag.
