Notes: Tired of typical plywood thinlines? Then pick a few sweet notes on the Schaefer Casanova. Introduced in 1958, the Gibson ES-335 debuted the thinline body, with an inner block for sustain and reduced feedback, and the new humbucking pickups for quiet operation, high output, and sweet, fat tone. The 335 became an instant classic, mass-produced in the thousands to this day with inexpensive, durable plywood bodies.

Texas luthier Ed Schaefer's archtop guitars were meticulously constructed entirely by hand, and rarely seen on the vintage market. His Casanova blends the premium hand-carved solid spruce soundboard and highly flamed maple body of his top-line jazz boxes to the comfortable thinline body of the classic ES-335. The body and neck are well balanced, the instrument sits comfortably on the lap or the shoulder, and the amber blonde finish shows the intensely figured tiger flame maple body to great advantage.

The neck has a gentle "D" profile, remarkably sleek and fast, and the original frets are the classic medium-jumbos, famously easy to play. The Wolfetone Legend pickups produce a smooth, high output signal with lots of snap and sustain. The instrument is without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and apart from some scattered wisps of checking in the ultra-thin nitro lacquer finish, appears all but unplayed.

The instrument is supplied with an original bound ebony pickguard and bracket as well, which was not installed when originally shipped. With a fast, elegant neck, and smooth, bluesy tone, this handbuilt marvel blends 335 comfort with L-5 quality construction. One only: call now.

Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

Case: Original tweed premium Cedar Creed plush lined arched hardshell case.
