Notes: Since 1972 the celebrated luthier Steve Grimes has been making master quality instruments by hand, and building in the process a formidable reputation for his meticulous construction and creative designs. Working from his shop on the side of Mt. Haleakala on the island of Maui, Grimes has partnered with such luminaries as George Benson, Larry Coryell, Steve Miller, Leo Kottke, Paul Simon, and Willie Nelson, to create instruments that fuse elegant craftsmanship with strikingly innovative design.

Carved with the most stunning tonewoods, this gorgeous example of Grimes' Bluesette model features strikijng curly maple throughout, with a tap-tuned X-braced Sitka spruce soundboard, with large D'Aquisto style soundholes. With a weight of a mere 5lb 2oz, the instrument is designed to maximize player comfort, with its body slimmed to a depth of 2 3/4", resting effortlessly under the arm.

With hand carved ebony hardware, the guitar is fitted with a built-in Lollar Low-Wind Imperial humbucking pickup, whose vintage style Alnico II magnets impart a peerless bop era tone. The subtly shaded amber finish is shot in true light nitro lacquer, to optimize the acoustic resonance as well.

Lovingly maintained by its original owner, the instrument remains in showroom condition, without playwear, and with all original hardware and electronics. With its fresh high-precision setup, the guitar has smooth low action over a comfy gentle D profile neck, and plays most elegantly indeed.

We are pleased to offer this splendid instrument, complete with its original ultra-premium Ameritage hardshell case. So if you can't make it to Steve's shop in sunny Maui, fret not. You'll still need your sunglasses when you flip this stunning guitar over. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel flatwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
