Notes: New York luthier Ric McCurdy is a true holdout, with his workshop tucked into a Tribeca neighborhood neighborhood not far from where C.F. Martin, Epi Stathopulo, and John D'Angelico all set up their workbenches. An acolyte of the great Bob Benedetto, McCurdy's extensive repair work gave him the priceless opportunity to study the legendary archtops of D'Aquisto and D'Angelico from the inside out. With a celebrity roster including Joe Beck, Jimmy Vivino and Kenny Loggins, Ric has become a go-to builder for working pros in the Big Apple.

His Perfecta model was designed in collaboration with the noted performer John Abercrombie, and is specifically crafted for the exacting demands of the working player. The comfy 16" body is slimmed to 2" for maximum comfort under the arm, with a discreet sound port in the upper bass side as an acoustic monitor. The intensely flamed fully hollow body is constructed with a lightweight metal rod running from the neck to the endblock, to enhance feedback resistance and sustain.

Crafted of stunning AAA Euro tonewoods throughout, the Perfecta pays homage to the great NY builders, with D'Angelico style stairstep pickguard, and D'Aquisto inspired oval soundholes. The Lindy Fralin Pure HB pickups are renowned for their warmth and fidelity, with true '50's style Alnico II magnets, and vintage spec 42 gauge wire. Controls include separate volume pots for each pickup, with a master tone control for both, and 3-way selector switch.

At just 6lb 4oz, the instrument is easy to hold, and deftly balanced on the lap or the strap. Upscale touches include solid ebony hardware and a glorious, whisper thin, amber blonde lacquer finish. With exceptionally vivid tiger flame maple throughout, this guitar has been maintained in 100% original condition. Apart from few wisps of checking on top, the instrument shows few signs of age or play altogether. The classic gentle C profile neck offers smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup, and plays effortlessly.

All enclosed in its premium arched plush lined hardshell case: a working jazzer's dream, from the last archtop master of lower Manhattan. One only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
