Notes: Master luthier Masaki Nishimura has been producing a world renowned lineup of handcrafted guitars from his workshop in Shibuya, Tokyo. Rarely seen on this side of the pond, his innovative guitars take quality to the next level. This rare Unity model is crafted of premium tonewoods, with top flight electronics and hardware throughout, including the stylish ebony tailpiece and striking clear Lucite pickguard.
Designed as a tribute to the great Pat Metheny, the Unity has visual elements drawn from artwork on a number of the artist's albums, with custom designed pickup cover, control knobs, and truss rod cover.
This striking example is in wonderful condition, with all original hardware and true nitro finish. Without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, the body is notable for its unique binding-free construction, which showcases the end grain of the solid spruce soundboard to great advantage. Apart from a few scatteted finish nicks near the rims, the guitar shows few signs of play altogether.
Weighing in at barely 6lb, the instrument is nicely lightweight and well balanced, on the lap or the strap. The Westville Crest single coil pickup is crafted in the tradition of the prewar 'Charlie Christian' blade pickup, with its peerless clarity and detail, and the gentle C profile neck with its dark ebony fingerboard offers smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup.
Fitted in its handsome brown vintage style plushlined hardshell case, the Unity is both a rare find, and a distinctive tribute to one of the most influential figures in contemporary jazz guitar. One only, call now.
Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel flatwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
