Notes: Built in small numbers between 1978 and 1993, the ES-347TD is one of the scarcest and most versatile of Gibson's thinline guitars. An upgraded ES-335, the 347 shares the center-block construction for enhanced sustain and feedback resistance. Like the 345 and 55, the 347 has upmarket features like the solid ebony fingerboard, all-gold hardware and a multi-bound headstock.

But what sets the ES-347 apart is its innovative electronic design. The twin Series 7 pickups contain ceramic magnets for higher output, and are coil tapped, for both humbucking and single-coil operation. Used in concert with the 3 way pickup selector, the coil tap switch allows the player to choose among an exceptional variety of tonal colors.

A rare ebony finish version of the model, the body makes an elegant match with the jet-black pickguard and control knobs. The neck has a gentle D profile, remarkably easy in the hand, with fine high original Gibson medium-jumbo frets. The body and neck are well balanced, and the instrument sits comfortably on the lap or the shoulder. The Series 7 humbuckers (now known as Dirty Fingers) produce a powerful, fat signal with lots of crunch, and open up sweet, clear harmonics in single-coil mode.

This gleaming guitar has been maintained in splendid condition, without pick, thumb, buckle, or fingerboard wear. Apart from a few scattered swirls in the all original nitro lacquer, the guitar shows few signs of age altogether. The coil tap switch is positioned handily near the pickup selector, along with the micro-adjustable TP-6 stop tailpiece, with individual fine tuners, for ultra-precise pitch control. With a fresh pro setup, the guitar plays superbly, with smooth low action over a gentle medium D profile neck, and places a veritable rainbow of tones at the player's fingertips.

A rare find, and one of Gibson's most innovative creations. One only: call now.

Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

Case: Original deluxe black Gibson logo plush lined hardshell case.
