Notes: One of the most accomplished of modern American luthiers, Mark Lacey began his career in the mid-70's in London, building renaissance and baroque stringed instruments. After stints with Gruhn and Bill Lawrence, Lacey opened his own shop, first in LA and then in Nashville, where he currently resides. His artist roster includes notable jazzers like Herb Ellis, Howard Alden and Bruce Forman, and other clients including Jackson Browne, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Paul McCartney. Influenced by D'Angelico and D'Aquisto as well as the Gibson classics, Lacey has earned a reputation as one of the world's premier builders of the archtop guitar.

The Lacey Classic is a rare model, combining the most attractive features of three of the world's most iconic guitars. The semi-hollow thinline construction is in the style of the ES-335, with a Les Paul style compact 15" single cutaway mahogany body. Finally, the solid carved spruce top, ebony fingerboard, engraved gold hardware and ornate pearl inlay are all inspired by the legendary D'Angelico New Yorker. This example shows exceptional figured mahogany body and neck, grained ivoroid binding, all gold hardware, and a perfectly bookmatched handcarved Sitka spruce soundboard. The neck is carved in a gentle flattened D profile, with smooth low action over freshly leveled medium jumbo fretwork. The instrument is in great condition, without pick, thumb or fingerboard wear, and is equipped with a rare Van Eps style string damper, for crystal clear tone.

Current new price on this model can be $10,000 or more, with a substantial build time. Surely one of the most elegant electric guitars ever made, this Lacey Classic offers peerless playability with incomparable hand-built quality. Call now.
