SN# 50, dated August, 2000

Body size at lower bout: 16". Scale length: 26 3/8" (670mm) Nut Width: 1 3/4"

Materials: Bookmatched solid Englemann spruce top; solid figured bookmatched Indian rosewood back and sides; solid mahogany neck; solid ebony fingerboard; rosewood bound body.

Hardware: All original hardware including solid ebony bridge; DR Selmer style tailpiece; nickel butterbean 16X1 tuners; Bigtone pickup with endpin jack; clear scratchplate.

Notes: Shelley Park's guitars have become prized on both sides of the Atlantic for their beauty, power and ultra-meticulous craftsmanship. An updating of the Selmer "Petit Bouche" used by Django himself, the Park Encore has the long 670mm scale for exceptional punch and projection, and a 14 fret neck for improved access. With top of deeply ambered bookmatched Englemann spruce, the guitar is uncannily light in weight (just 3lb. 4oz) and the neck joins the body in a slim, elegant French heel.

Immaculately constructed, this example is built with back and sides of solid Indian rosewood, and a bookmatched Englemann spruce top of surpassing clarity. The guitar is in virtually unplayed condition with all original hardware and Bigtone pickup. The voice is bright and forward, with excellent projection. Common on petite bouche guitars, a pair of tiny hairline cracks of less than an inch between the fingerboard points and the soundhole purfling are soundly resealed. The Park neck profile is renowned for its comfort and playability, and this example has the American side dot at the 9th fret. Shelley has recently raised her prices in the face of increasing international demand for her work, so here's a chance to jump the queue and bag a bargain besides. A magnificent combination of Old World design and New World sensibility.

Setup: This instrument is strung with light gauge silvered steel strings, and will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference.

Case: Original plush hardshell case.
