Notes: Must be something in the water. Or maybe it's the towering evergreens. Whatever the reason, top-quality craft luthiery has taken root in Western Oregon as tenaciously as vines of Willamette Valley pinot noir. From his shop in Beaverton, Oregon, near Portland, Bill Gagnon produces hand built guitars one at a time. We've always felt that playing experience is a great asset for a builder, and Bill's instruments reflect a performance career going back decades.

With its 17" Venetian cutaway body, highly figured all-carved construction and tap-tuned X-braced soundboard, the Gagnon DeVant is an archtop in the classic tradition. The body is crafted of bookmatched fiddleback maple, and at just 5lb. 6 oz, the instrument is remarkably lightweight and comfy, on the lap or the strap. The gentle "D" profile neck nestles easily in the palm, with a solid ebony fingerboard, and smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup. A single short grainline crack under the pickguard has been soundly resealed, and the tap-tuned soundboard is meticulously hand graduated, with a rich, responsive acoustic voice, faithfully captured by the Armstrong floating humbucker.

The intricate fleur-de-lis inlays around the abalone trimmed pearl diamond are a graceful touch at the 12th fret of this striking creation. Bill's guitars are rarely seen on the vintage market, and here's a rare opportunity to bag a great player at an unbeatable price. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched plush lined hardshell case.
