Notes: The Pacific Northwest has long been known as a source for the finest tonewoods, and some of the world's most celebrated builders. Having produced top-notch acoustic instruments for almost four decades, Steve Andersen was first famed for his mandolins and flattops. Finally, Steve focused his international reputation on his extensive line of world-class archtop guitars. Andersen players have included notable performers including recording star Bill Frisell, Dan Faehnle, and many others.

The innovative design of the Andersen Oval positions a soundport in the upper bass bout, leaving the remainder of the soundboard in a single continuous span. Combined with the finely graduated, tap tuned, X-braced top, this design optimizes bass response and sustain, far greater than conventional acoustic archtops with traditional f-style soundholes.

At a mere 5lb 12 oz, the guitar is notably lightweight as well, with a comfy 16" body that fits smartly under the arm. Back, sides and neck are carved from exceptionally vivid curly maple, and the guitar is finished in a warmly ambered blonde lacquer finish. Amplified by the full-size Kent Armstrong Handwound floating PAF pickup, the guitar is a uniquely versatile instrument, equally at home in a variety of styles, unplugged or through the amp.

Maintained in sparkling condition, the instrument is free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, showing no more than a few incidental lacquer nicks. The solid two-piece flame maple neck has a gentle D profile, with smooth, low action and a fresh high-precision setup, over the solid ebony fingerboard.

Always popular among serious players, Andersen archtops have only increased in demand since Steve's recent retirement. A handsome and resonant instrument from a master of the craft. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched black plush lined hardshell case.
