Materials: Arched maple laminate top, back, and sides; solid maple neck; solid ebony rosewood fingerboard with pearloid hump inlays; gold sparkle body and neck binding and truss rod cover.
Hardware: All original gold hardware includes twin Pat. # Filter 'Tron pickups, Gretsch 'Cadillac' tailpiece; Grover Rotomatic tuners; gold plexi pickguard with falcon logo; adjustable roller bridge; twin volume controls with master volume and tone controls, all with jeweled knobs; three-way pickup selector/mute switch; adjustable truss rod.
Notes: Gretsch introduced its iconic White Falcon model in 1955, as their top of the line electric instrument. A full size 17" thinline guitar, the Falcon was priced at an eye-popping $600, and featured engraved pearl inlay and gold sparkle binding, the latter repurposed from Gretsch's fancy drum material. By 1962, a double cutaway version made its debut, along with the Bigsby vibrato. Discontinued in 1981, the White Falcon has been reissued in various configurations since the late '80s, and remains one of Gretsch's most popular models.
With the ornate appointments of the original '55 version, the guitar features the winged vertical Gretsch headstock logo, classic 'Cadillac' tailpiece, and red jeweled control knobs. With its slightly slimmed cutaway body, the White Falcon is fitted with gleaming all gold hardware, including twin Filter'Tron humbucking pickups, twin volume controls, master volume and tone controls, and the adjustable bridge with roller saddles. The three way selector switch toggles between the neck pickup, both neck and bridge pickups, and a handy mute function.
With the vintage 'trestle' brace under the bridge, the guitar features enhanced sustain and feedback resistance, while still retaining the acoustic resonance of a hollow soundchamber. And unlike modern Chinese built reissues, this guitar was crafted entirely in Japan, handbuilt by master craftsmen in the famed Terada factory.
Meticulously maintained, this gleaming example is in 100% original showroom condition, complete with its original deluxe hardshell case. The tonal range is exceptionally versatile, from rockabilly to bop, and the action is smooth and low over a fresh high-precision setup on an easy D profile neck, with solid ebony fingerboard.
The top of the heap, and one of the most striking stage guitars ever made. One only: call now.
Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
Setup: This instrument is strung with light gauge nickel roundwound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Original deluxe black Gretsch logo arched plush lined hardshell case.
