For over thirty years, James Goodall has built some of the finest acoustic guitars available anywhere. Starting in the early '70's in his native Southern California, Goodall honed his craft as part of a group of young builders who became mainstays of modern lutherie: Taylor, Deering, Stelling, and Breedlove among them. After a sojourn in Hawaii, Goodall is now based in Ft. Bragg, CA, maintaining his uncompromising standards of craft with a highly systematic approach to materials and design. Like a fine archtop builder, Goodall hand graduates the thickness of his soundboards to optimize the balance of fundamentals and harmonics. The result are instruments of surpassing acoustic response, with an excellent balance of sensitivity and headroom.

The Goodall Traditional 000 is a tribute to the legendary 12 fret Martins of the 1920's, instruments renowned for their power and sensitivity. With a size between the OM and Dreadnought bodies, the Traditional 000 is fingerstyle guitar that can strum with the best of them. The extended 12 fret body enhances bass response without overwhelming the upper register, with partially scalloped bracing for greater sustain and resonance.

This exceptional guitar combines some of the world's most highly prized tonewoods of the prewar era. The Master Grade Italian red spruce is a close relative to the legendary Adirondack variety, renowned for its power and projection. The solid highly figured Brazilian rosewood body adds unmatched clarity and brilliance. The soundboard shows the characteristic red highlights of this lightest and strongest of topwoods, while the back positively explodes with dramatic Appaloosa coloration. A versatile instrument for both finger and pick style play, the 000 has an easy light "D" profile neck with matte finish, and a generous traditional 1 3/4" nut on the solid ebony fingerboard. Trim accents include curly maple binding, herringbone trim, and abalone inlaid bridge pins.

This example is in immaculate condition, free of playwear, with smooth low action over fine original fretwork. Sporting the most coveted tonewoods the world has to offer, this stunning guitar offers solid traditional looks, with just a bit of a wild side. One only: never again at this price. Call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings.
