Notes: The Pacific Northwest has long been known as a source for the finest tonewoods, and some of the world's most celebrated builders. Having produced top-notch acoustic instruments for over 20 years, Steve Andersen was first famed for his mandolins and flattops. Over the last decade, Steve has focused his international reputation on his extensive line of world-class archtop guitars. Andersen players now range from recording star Bill Frisell, to Dan Faehnle, former stringman with Diana Krall.

This custom guitar moves Andersen's oval soundhole to center position, in the style of the prewar Gibson L-4, or the celebrated Howard Roberts model of the 60's. This design produces a distinctly brighter acoustic tone with more sustain and deeper bass response, combining archtop projection with flat top warmth and sustain. With extravagantly flamed woods, a simple, elegant design, and Andersen's ultra-meticulous fit and finish, the result is an instrument of unique acoustical quality, faithfully amplified by the full-size Lindy Fralin humbucker, suspended in a unique pickguard mount.

This example shows exceptional flame maple in the body, and a tap-tuned, X-braced Adirondack spruce top, with a classic 20's style teacup sunburst finish. Maintained in gleaming condition, the instrument is free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, with no more than a few incidental lacquer nicks. The solid one-piece flame maple neck has a gentle D profile, with smooth, low action and a fresh high-precision setup, over the solid ebony fingerboard.

A uniquely versatile creation from a modern master. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched black plush lined hardshell case.
