Materials: Solid bookmatched fine grain spruce top; arched figured maple back and sides; solid maple neck with walnut centerstripe; solid ebony fingerboard with dot mother of pearl inlays; 3-ply body binding; solid bone nut.

Hardware: All gold hardware includes Gotoh 15:1 Sta-Tite style tuners; vintage style trapeze tailpiece, compensated adjustable ebony bridge; bound dark tortoise pickguard; adjustable truss rod, D'Angelico 1100 Adjustable Rhythm Chief floating pickup with volume and tone controls and endpin jack.

Notes: Some years ago we were astonished to find an instrument of surpassing rarity: a very early D'Angelico guitar, similar to his Excel Model, but with a peghead logo from Selmer, the noted French instrument manufacturer. At some point, a cutaway had been added to the body, along with a floating DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup. Our archive page for this historic instrument may be seen here.

So you can imagine our surprise when this gleaming guitar showed up: a meticulously accurate replica of the Selmer DA, cutaway and all. Built with the traditional fast 24 3/4" scale, the Stringphonic Lang-C Limited has the finger-friendly 1 3/4" nut, parallel-braced soundboard, and the famously comfy 16" body.

At a mere 4lb 14oz, the guitar is strikingly light, and sits handily on the lap or the strap. A lustrous vintage nitro Cremona sunburst finish is masterfully shaded in faithful prewar style, highlighting the tightly flamed curly maple back and sides. The all gold hardware includes Gotoh Sta-Tite butterbean style tuners, the smoothest available anywhere. The D'Angelico 1100 Adjustable Rhythm Chief floating pickup delivers traditional vintage tone, remarkably faithful to the acoustic voice of the instrument, with its adjustable polepieces suitable for either nickel or bronze strings.

The neck has a gentle V profile, solid but not clubby, with smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup. The acoustic voice is warm and woody, and conveyed to the amp with accuracy by the vintage style electronics. Produced in an extremely limited edition, this rarity is a remarkable tribute to a truly unique vintage classic. One only, call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge phosphor bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with light relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe black arched plush lined hardshell case.
