Notes: A European trained builder whose instruments combine traditional design with exacting contemporary standards of craft, Bryant Trenier is a fine visual designer as well as a meticulous fabricator. One of the most talented builders of his generation, Trenier has built a following on both sides of the Atlantic with his exquisitely crafted instruments, the products of his intensive research and deep commitment to the art of the acoustic archtop guitar.

This custom built Trenier Nylon Cutaway is a hybrid design, configured to expand the constraints and possibilities of the conventional classical guitar. The European spruce top is fan-braced in traditional style, with striking bearclaw crossgrain figure. The rosewood body provides a rigid platform for the top, allowing it to resonante clearly, with minimal damping.

The cutaway body enhances access to the uppermost frets, and at just 4lb 2oz, the instrument is nicely light in weight and well balanced. The 1 3/4" nut and radiused fingerboard will feel pleasantly familiar to flat top and archtop players alike, with smooth low action courtesy of the adjustable double acting truss rod, on the traditional C profile neck. The bridge provides 2 1/4" string spacing with ample room for right hand fingering, and includes the ingenious KNA NG-1 pickup, a feather light piezo element encased in solid tonewood. Held in place solely by string pressure, the pickup contains an 1/8" mini-jack, and is removable simply by slackening the strings.

The voice is brilliant as well, with unusual power and projection: a perfect companion for chord melody or bossa players alike. This handsome example is in excellent condition, without buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. Apart from a few light fingernail nicks, the instrument shows few signs of play altogether, and is supplied with it's ultra-premium Fazely fitted hardshell case, covered in lustrous black leather, one of the most impressive modern cases we've seen.

A striking work of contemporary luthiery, the Trenier Nylon Cutaway delivers vibrant classical tone for the steel string player: a design that synthesizes the best of both worlds. One only, call now.
