Materials: Solid handcarved figured maple back and sides; solid bookmatched handcarved spruce top; solid maple neck with 3-ply walnut/maple centerstripe; solid Brazilian rosewood fingerboard; abalone peghead fingerboard inlays with pearl logo; triple-bound body, bound fingerboard and headstock; original bone nut.

Hardware: Original gold hardware includes Epi 16:1 epsilon-logo tuners; Epiphone Frequensator tailpiece; hex-key adjustable truss rod, adjustable compensated Brazilian rosewood bridge. Older Epi-style bound tortoise pickguard.

Notes: The forties Broadway has always been one of our most popular guitars. Built with the same body size and scale length as the Deluxe, the Broadway also sports the same gold hardware, powerful voice and playable neck of its costlier cousin. This example is in wonderful condition, with a rich deep vintage sunburst over a handcarved solid spruce top, flame maple back, and birdseye maple sides. Many feel the Broadway peghead vine is among the most graceful inlays ever designed, and this example is cut from solid mother of pearl with colored highlights.

The instrument is in excellent condition, with a deep original dark sunburst finish, and all original gold hardware. The original frets are in fine condition and the fingerboard is straight and true, with smooth low action over a fresh high-precision setup and a gentle, soft V neck profile. The original gold Frequensator tailpiece has been newly rebrazed, and the body is fitted with an older bound tortoise pickguard. The body is free of cracks, buckle or thumbwear, with wear confined to a bit of pickwear on the upper bout. The centerseam of teh tiger maple back has been soundly resealed, with a bit a light overspray applied to the area.

At just 5lb 12oz. the instrument is wonderfully lightweight and well balanced, with volume to burn. The voice is clear and bright, with excellent balance and the cutting power for which these old Epis are justly renowned. A superb player, and a very handsome example indeed. Call now.

Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridgewheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

This instrument is strung with medium gauge bronze strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe arched brown Epiphone plush lined hardshell case.
