Materials: Five-ply bound arched birch laminate body; two piece birch neck; solid ebony fingerboard; signature peghead medallion, pearloid block fingerboard inlays.

Notes: Before Fender. Before Aria. Before any of the reissues of legendary Jimmy D'Aquisto's renowned instruments, there was a Swedish connection: Hagstrom. Jimmy's relationship with the venerable Swedish firm began when they supplied some laminate bodies for a few of D'Aquisto's early electric models. By 1968, the shoe was on the other foot, as Hagstrom commisioned D'Aquisto to design the Jimmy, a slightly slimmed 16" f-hole archtop, with twin built-in pickups.

By 1977, the Jimmy was redesigned with an oval sound hole, and full size floating humbucker, much like Gibson's Howard Roberts model. Much rarer that the f-hole versions, only 350 examples were produced before production stopped altogether in 1979. It would be another five years before D'Aquisto signed with Fender to produce the guitars that bore his name as well.

Combining an arched 16" body with an extended Venetian cutaway, the Jimmy's slimmed depth makes for an easy feel under the arm, with a weather and feedback resistant laminate construction.

The tone is rich and unusually versatile through the distinctive full size humbucking pickup, and the handsome oval hole body has a quite respectable unplugged voice of its own. Action is smooth and low over a particularly elegant D profile neck, with a generous 1 3/4" solid ebony fingerboard, and fresh high-precision setup, with a recent neck set for optimum action. Carefully maintained in all original condition the instrument is free of pick buckle, thumb, fingerboard or fret wear, with only a few scattered scratches on the pickguard for its long career.

A rare opportunity to own a truly historic model, from one of the world's most venerated luthiers. One only: call now.

Case: Original deluxe black arched plush lined hardshell case.

Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished, pickup polepieces adjusted and electronics tested.

This instrument is strung with medium gauge flat wound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe black Gibson logo arched plush lined hardshell case.
