Body size at lower bout: 16". Scale length: 24 3/4" Nut Width: 1 11/16"

Materials: Solid mahogany neck; solid rosewood fingerboard; figured maple top; figured maple sides and back; dual-parallelogram fingerboard inlay and thistle peghead inlay; triple bound top, bound back.

Hardware: 100% original hardware includes trapeze tailpiece with raised-parallelogram crossbar; compensated tuneamatic bridge; Gibson humbucking pickups and electronics; beveled 5-ply pickguard; black bonnet knobs; 3 way control switch, adjustable compensated Tunematic bridge; Gibson logo tulip key tuners.

Notes: Since its introduction in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 has been the most popular jazz guitar in the world. Originally fitted with a single P-90 pickup, the 175 added a second pickup by 1951, and humbuckers by 1957. This fine example is 100% original, with has a handsome sunburst body, and a figured maple top, back, sides and neck. This guitar has been maintained in immaculate condition, free of cracks, pickwear, thumbwear or finish checking. With immaculate medium jumbo frets, the fingerboard is utterly effortless to play. The 24 3/4" scale is fast and nimble, the twin humbuckers are fat and sweet, and the 16" body is easy to cradle and substantially resistant to feedback.

An original Kalamazoo label guitar in superb condition, the instrument is stamped 'Second' on the pehead, for no reason we can determine. (This typically indicated some minor cosmetic issue when new, as Gibson ran any structurally flawed instrument through a bandsaw.) New list is almost $5000 now on these. A great instrument in a distinguished lineage that spans a half century of hard-working guitars.

Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished as needed; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel roundwound strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Black plushlined arched hardshell case.
