Notes: Endorsed by players from Freddie Green to Sal Salvador and Chet Atkins, the Gretsch company has been producing distinctively designed archtop guitars since 1933. This instrument is a rare limited edition reissue of the Synchromatic 6039 guitar, which debuted in 1951, and was rechristened as the Fleetwood in 1955. Constructed of premium materials, the G400 sports a solid bookmatched tone bar braced spruce top, a solid ebony fingerboard, and deluxe multi-ply binding throughout. An affectionate tribute to Gretsch history, the G400 incorporates design elements from the 30's to the 60's, including the famous 'Synchronized' compensated stairstep bridge, the 'Chromatic' harp-shaped tailpiece, the 'Filter 'Tron' humbucking pickup, pearl 'hump' inlays, and of course, the signature 'Cat-Eye' soundholes.

This model is so scarce it may well have been made in a single batch only, by the same craftsmen who built the reissue D'Angelico guitars, we've been told. This example is 100% original, with exceptionally vivid fiddleback flame maple in the back and sides. She's been kept in immaculate condition, without pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. The slim D profile neck is a marvel of ease, and the solid spruce soundboard lends a warm acoustic tone, which translates smoothly through the Fiulter 'Tron style humbucking pickup. With classic retro Gretsch styling and D'Angelico style craftsmanship, this guitar could be your stairstep to heaven.

Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge radius inspected and recurved as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel strings (.013-.056). The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe Gretsch logo black arched plush lined hardshell case.
