Notes: From his workshop in Cognac, France, Maurice Dupont has been one of the pioneering builders of the gypsy guitar revival, and his instruments remain among the most faithful recreations of the original Selmers made today. An early and excellent example of his work, this guitar is a rendition of the "Petit Bouche" used by Django himself. The MD30 has the long 26 3/8" flamenco scale for exceptional punch and projection, a generous 1 3/4 nut width, and back and sides of handsome solid Indian rosewood.

This rare example contains the original Maurice Dupont label dated June, 1994, in the maker's own hand. Lightweight and resonant, the instrument weighs in at a mere 4lb. 5oz, just under 2kg. Carved of elegant figured walnut, the neck has wonderfully comfortable profile, slim in depth and fairly flat across the back. The instrument has been kept in immaculate condition, free of cracks, pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear. The all-solid MD30 is rarely seen on the vintage market, and new examples are priced over $5000 at current exchange rates, with a considerable wait time. With tonewood aged over a decade, this guitar is gypsy royalty, ready to rule over a campfire or a concert hall.

Setup: This instrument is strung with light gauge silvered steel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 5/64" to 6/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original hardshell case.
