Materials: Highly figured arched curly maple top, sides and back; solid mahogany neck; solid rosewood fingerboard; dual-parallelogram mother of pearl fingerboard inlay and thistle peghead inlay; triple bound top, bound back and neck.
Hardware: All original hardware includes Gibson logo humbucking pickups, Kluson Deluxe tuners, trapeze tailpiece with raised-parallelogram crossbar; compensated adjustable Tuneomatic bridge; gold bonnet knobs; 3 way control switch, 5-ply wide bevel pickguard; original pots, capacitors and wiring harness.
Notes: Since its introduction in 1949, the Gibson ES-175 has been the most popular jazz guitar in the world. Originally fitted with a single P-90 pickup, the 175 added a second pickup by 1951, and humbuckers by 1957. The mahogany neck is a feature of the classic models of the 50's and 60's , and produces an instrument that is distinctly lighter in weight, and notably better balanced.
This spectacular blonde example is crafted with a curly maple body of exceptionally intense figure, with a lustrous amber blonde finish which highlights the flame to maximum advantage. Maintained in gleaming condition, the instrument is free of pick, buckle, thumb or fingerboard wear, and is fitted with a gentle C profile neck, with smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup. The 24 3/4" scale is fast and nimble, the humbuckers are rich and warm, and the 16" body is easy to cradle and substantially resistant to feedback.
Discontinued in 2019 after 68 years of continuous production, this spectacular version is a striking example of the best loved jazz box of all time, now just a treasured memory. One only: call now.
Setup: The frets have been precision leveled, recrowned and polished as needed; trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; string slots at nut and bridge inspected and recut as necessary; bridge foot contour inspected and fit to top as necessary; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.
This instrument is strung with medium gauge nickel ground wound strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.
Case: Deluxe brown Gibson logo plush lined hardshell case.
