Notes: John Buscarino is one of the names you'll hear on virtually every short list of the premier contemporary archtop builders. Having worked closely with luthiery legend Bob Benedetto for a number of years, John also studied with the great Augie LoPrizi of classical and flat top fame. His artist list includes George Benson, Russell Malone, Ron Affif, Gene Bertoncini and many more, all keeping Buscarino's hand crafted instruments in considerable demand.

Tasteful and elegant in design, the Artisan is built of all solid, all carved, tap tuned tonewoods of exceptional figure and responsiveness. The gently tapered D neck profile in particular is one of the most inviting we've played, with smooth low action over a fresh high precision setup. No detail is too small: the mother of pearl block inlays in the solid ebony fingerboard are crossed with fine diagonals of colorful Paua abalone.

The fit and finish of the instrument is immaculate, and this example has been maintained in 100% original, virtually unplayed condition. At just 5lb. 10oz. the instrument is delightfully light in weight, and deeply resonant, balancing nimbly on the lap or the strap. The voice is simply thrilling: notes seem to jump from the instrument with a brilliant, open clarity, combining the sustain of the X-braced design with the warmth of the tap-tuned soundboard, now gently aged for almost two decades. And that's before you've even thought of plugging her in.

With a new cost at almost $10K, and a considerable lead time, this is a model for which we've waited for years. We're pleased to be able to offer it to one lucky player, at an unprecedented price. One only: call now.

Setup: This instrument is strung with medium gauge flatwound nickel strings. The guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action is set at 4/64" to 5/64" at the 12th fret, with moderate relief for acoustic playing with medium strings. The action may be lowered or raised to your requirements with the adjustable bridge.

Case: Original deluxe black arched plush lined hardshell case.
